Answer this QUESTION....
If I were to die today, WHERE WOULD I GO ?
There are only two possible answers to this question.... HEAVEN or HELL.
PURGATORY is not a choice - it is not in the Bible!!
Am I ready to stand before God?
Am I SURE that I am on
my way to heaven?
The Apostle John said that the reason for writing his gospel was "...that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through His name." and in his epistle he affirms "These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God;,that YE MAY KNOW THAT YE HAVE ETERNAL LIFE and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God."
How may this apply to me?
God says "I have loved you with an everlasting love"
"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16.
"He that believeth on Him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God." John 3:18.
BUT
God
says "Your
iniquities have separated you from your God"
He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. John 3:36
QUESTIONS
1. HAVE I GOT ETERNAL LIFE OR AM I UNDER THE WRATH AND CONDEMNATION OF GOD?
2. WHERE WILL I SPEND ETERNITY?
There are only two possibilities-
I know and I am sure that I will spend eternity in the presence of God
OR
I don't know and I am still under the wrath of God and will spend eternity in Hell.
THE BAD NEWS
WE CANNOT SAVE OURSELVES OR WORK OUR PASSAGE TO HEAVEN BY GOOD WORKS, DOING PENANCE, CHARITABLE ACTS AND SO ON.
The Bible says "All have sinned and come short of the glory of God" Romans 3:23
and
"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God.NOT OF WORKS LEST ANY MAN SHOULD BOAST." Ephesians 2:8,9.
BUT NOW THE GOOD NEWS
Jesus Christ is God's answer. He said - "I am the way, the truth, and the life; no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." John 14:6
So what do I have to do?
1. Believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, when He died on the cross took the punishment due to me. He is the only way to God.
"Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men,whereby we must be saved." Acts 4:12
2. Repent - Confess my sins to God, admit that I cannot save myself and ask God's forgiveness.
"If we confess our sin, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins , and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." 1 John 1:9.
3. I invite the Lord Jesus into my life, asking Him to control my life.
"But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name." John 1:12.
4. Speak these thoughts to God in a simple prayer. Such as:-
"Lord Jesus, I admit that I am a sinner, I ask You to come into my life to forgive and save me.
I now receive You as
- my Saviour, trusting in You ALONE to save me,
and
- my Lord, making You my Master and committing my life to you.
Come into my heart, cleanse me with the blood you shed on the cross in payment for my sin.
Thank you Lord Jesus!
5. Jesus said "Behold, I stand at the door and knock: if any man hear my voice and open the door, I will come into him, and will sup with him, and he with me." Revelation 3:20. I have His word as my assurance that He now indwells me in the person of the Holy Spirit. Paul writing in his letter to the Ephesions Chapter 1 verses 13/14 explains that after we have believed we are "sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the earnest (pledge) of our inheritance," He is our Comforter and Guide.

6. Get a Bible and read it regularly - start with the gospel of John.
7. Speak to God in prayer, ONLY through the name of Jesus.
8. Tell others of your decision. Jesus said "Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men,him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven." Matthew 10:33.
9. Have fellowship with other Christians.
